Catena-X and Together for Sustainability Release Version 2 of the PCF Verification and PCF Program Certification Framework
Catena-X and TfS invite all stakeholders to a public Q&A session on October 8, 2025, from 14:00–15:00 CEST

Sustainability has become a defining factor for modern supply chains – and reliable, trusted Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data is at the heart of it. To make this possible at scale, Catena-X and Together for Sustainability (TfS) are deepening their cooperation and have jointly released Version 2 of the PCF Verification and PCF Program Certification Framework.
The first version, published in September 2024, was open to public consultation and piloted across multiple companies. The valuable feedback and lessons learned have now been integrated into Version 2, marking significant progress toward a transparent and scalable approach for increasing trust in PCFs shared across digital ecosystems.
What’s new in Version 2?
- A broader scope to reflect both ways of increasing trust in PCFs: PCF Program Certification and PCF Verification.
- Updated PCF Data Exchange Models by Catena-X and TfS, now supporting optional attributes such as PCF Certification Share and PCF Verification Shares. These enable certification or verification information to flow together with the PCF along the supply chain.
- A newly introduced appointment process for attestation providers (verifiers and certifiers) outlined in Chapter 7 of the framework. This ensures only trusted and competent entities act as attestation providers. Catena-X will be the first to adopt and pilot this process.
What’s next?
Catena-X and TfS invite all stakeholders to a public Q&A session on October 8, 2025, from 14:00–15:00 CEST. Please register here. Participants can also submit questions in advance via Slido.
With this release, Catena-X and TfS continue to set a shared industry standard for sustainability data – moving from fragmented, manual reporting to a trusted, digital and interoperable system that strengthens compliance, transparency, and competitiveness across global supply chains.
