Koller Kunststofftechnik GmbH, a manufacturer of injection moulded parts for the automotive industry, has successfully implemented a comprehensive digitisation project in less than a month together with the Catena-X certified business application provider German Edge Cloud (GEC). This has given Koller a clear overview of its production processes and energy consumption. Errors can be identified more quickly and optimisation potential becomes visible. In addition, the company was Catena-X-ready in a very short time and has already successfully carried out a Catena-X-compliant data exchange with the BMW GROUP in a test.

Challenge: Increasing requirements along the supply chain

As a supplier to the automotive industry, Koller Kunststofftechnik GmbH faces growing demands in terms of data availability, traceability and energy efficiency. OEMs are increasingly demanding digital proof of production processes, while regulatory requirements and the pressure to organise processes sustainably are also increasing. Until now, Koller has lacked a central solution for the systematic collection and evaluation of relevant production and energy data – a basic requirement for efficient process optimisation and for the digital connection to OEMs based on Catena-X standards.

Solution: Catena-X-certified digitisation of production

The Catena-X-certified ONCITE DPS solution from German Edge Cloud was implemented in a very short space of time, providing Koller with transparency about both its production and use of energy. The software module used is based on Catena-X standards and is certified for use in the data ecosystem. Just three days after its introduction, relevant production data could be analysed in near real time and evaluated from a central dashboard. At the same time, the first Catena-X-compliant data exchange with the BMW Group in the area of traceability was successfully tested – as the basis for a productive connection from 2025.
