Catena-X Welcomes EU Omnibus Proposal
The EU Omnibus Confirms Continued Relevance for Sustainability Reporting and Supply Chain Data Collection

At Catena-X, we strongly welcome the European Commission’s draft of the Omnibus proposal underlining the need for a transparent and efficient way to report sustainability data. This initiative marks an important step towards streamlining the regulatory burden and supporting companies with a short extension of time to comply with emerging sustainability standards.
On February 26th, the European Commission published its ESG Omnibus proposal to address the growing need for more flexible reporting frameworks. If adopted, it will extend certain reporting deadlines by one to two years, allowing companies more time to implement a transparent and consistent ESG reporting. The proposal also exempts smaller companies with fewer than 1,000 employees from some of the reporting requirements, allowing them to focus on integrating automated solutions that are critical.
While the Omnibus proposal simplifies certain aspects of reporting, the need for automotive industry players to collect primary data from their supply chains remains unchanged. At Catena-X, we continue to drive the collection of primary data through our Catena-X ecosystem. Catena-X certified solutions already support automotive players in tracking and verifying Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), and we are preparing to implement guidelines to support ESG incident verification in line with evolving regulations such as the upcoming Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D).
Catena-X is committed to empowering businesses to navigate these changes and stay ahead of evolving sustainability reporting obligations.
