Catena-X at the VDA Technischer Kongress 2024

Dive into the main takeaways from Oliver Ganser, Chairman of the Board at Catena-X Association at this year’s Technical Congress of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).

Visitors from the fields of industry, politics, authorities, science and business were in the audience – important players of the German automotive industry. Their concern – to discuss technology, climate policy, digitalization, and the mobility solutions of tomorrow.

The debate at this year’s Conference confirmed once again that the scaling of the transformation to achieving climate-neutral mobility is crucial. We are delighted to be a part of the endavour and ensuring the scale-up already today. Oliver Ganser, Chairman of the Board at Catena-X Association and Head of Catena-X Industry Consortium, sums up the relevance of the further growth of the Catena-X Automotive Network in the following points:

  • Radical collaboration is key. Let's work together to decrease costs, ensure compliance, and boost supply chain resilience.
  • Brace yourself for a "Regulatory Tsunami": Millions of companies will be affected by new regulations, starting with the Battery Pass.
  • The responsibilities of buyers are increasing as interactions become more frequent and widespread. We must focus on the entire value stream, not just first-tier suppliers, to comply with regulations and make the companies sustainable.
  • Sustainability is a crucial reason why collaboration is essential. However, it's not the only reason. We can't tackle challenges like resilient supply chains, product lifecycle management, and trust in a digital world alone – collaboration is the way forward.
  • Catena-X is leading the charge. Our participants can enjoy cost-efficient and scalable solutions to operate and grow.

A couple more voices during the two-day conference setting explicitly highlighted the value of Catena-X. Dr. Holger Klein, CEO of ZF Group gave room for it in his presentation. Furthermore, our platform garnered attention during the circular economy session with Jens Rubi, Senior Manager Strategy and Sustainability at Mercedes-Benz AG. Claus Cremers, Director Automotive Ecosystems at Siemens AG and Member of the Board of the Catena-X Association, showcased an example of a certified CO2 application.
