At the same time as the Hannover Messe 2023 kicked off on April 17th, Catena-X launched its beta phase and showcased data exchange with representatives from renowned corporations and medium-sized companies in the automotive industry for the first time.

Dr. Robert Habeck's presence at the Catena-X booth was a significant highlight. As the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, he supports the Catena-X data ecosystem as a pioneer for transformative solutions to tackle pressing challenges such as decarbonization and digitization.

Habeck's visit emphasizes the significance of the data space in shaping the future of the automotive industry. Through its pioneering efforts in promoting data sovereignty, interoperability, sustainability, and collaboration, Catena-X is driving the transformation of global supply chains, unlocking new opportunities, and creating value for businesses across industries .
This enables smaller and medium-sized enterprises, in particular, to participate in this data ecosystem. Through constant digital documentation, for instance, the complete CO2 footprint can be determined or traceability can be provided in compliance with the supply chain act.

Going global: international visitors at the booth
Catena-X also garnered attention from international dignitaries such as President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, the partner country of this year's Hannover Messe. Germany aims to enhance collaboration with this resource-rich island nation in the coming years.
Catena-X recognizes the significance of international collaboration. In addition to President Widodo, Catena-X welcomed delegations from South Korea, Japan, Canada, and Sweden at Hannover Messe. Through its hubs, Catena-X provides central points of contact for interested organizations within their respective local ecosystems. The association's internationalization efforts were further advanced through a recently held extraordinary general meeting.
Next step for the battery pass
An additional highlight was the progress made regarding the battery passport, which was also one of the central topics at the Catena-X booth, showcasing ist use case in the circular economy. As of 2027, the EU will require all new electric vehicles to have a battery passport. A consortium of eleven international organizations from industry, technology, science, and civil society (including Catena-X) presented the first publicly accessible guideline for implementation to the Secretary of State, Michael Kellner at the Hannover Messe.
