We are pleased to announce that the second version of the Catena-X Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) Rulebook has been published. The C-X PCF Rulebook provides the methodological framework for the assessment of the Product Carbon Footprint. The main purpose of the rulebook is to increase the consistency of PCF accounting, thus ensuring comparability of PCFs of parts and components and enabling the selection of parts and suppliers.
The new version results in the following major additions and changes from the initial version:
- Revision of guidance for “allocation” (chapter 5.1.2)
- Revision of guidance for “accounting of waste treatment” (chapter 5.2.2)
- Revision of guidance for “accounting for GHG emissions from electricity” (chapter 5.2.4)
- Revision of guidance for “homogeneous parts” (chapter 5.2.5)
- Additional guidance for “accounting for Chain of Custody models (chapter 5.2.6)
- Revision of Chapter 6 “Data sources and hierarchy”
- Finalization of Chapter 7 “Required elements for PCF data exchange”
To ensure public acceptance of reported PCFs in the Catena-X network, Catena-X is making its PCF Rulebook available to the public and is open to any feedback to adjust or amend the rulebook accordingly.
We therefore kindly request your feedback by November 10, 2023. To provide your input and pose any questions, please utilize the feedback template and direct your correspondence to wg_pcf_standardization[@]catena-x[.]net.
