CX-Next starts: Support for Catena-X in the further development of use cases and adaptation

The Catena-X Association itself is not part of this consortium, but acts as an associated partner

Berlin, Germany – The next phase of the Catena-X success story begins with the establishment of a new consortium. The Catena-X Association itself is not part of this consortium, but acts as an associated partner, while the consortium actively supports the association in accelerating and further developing the integration of existing standards and use cases into practice.

The first consortium has laid the foundation for the success of Catena-X by developing a consistent, standardized and interoperable data ecosystem. These standards and use cases are already widely used by leading companies in the automotive industry such as the BMW Group, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Witte and Bosch, as well as SAP, Dräxlmaier, Schaeffler, ZF and many others. They use the Catena-X ecosystem to optimize their quality management processes, make CO₂ balancing more efficient and improve collaboration along the value chain.

Catena-X: A proven success model for the automotive industry

The successes of Catena-X to date impressively demonstrate how the standardisation and networking of data can create significant added value for the entire industry. Together with Witte, SAP has automated the PCF calculation of components and reduced costs by up to €10,000 per calculation. By implementing the Catena-X standards, the BMW Group has significantly improved the early detection of quality defects and recognises potential problems up to four months earlier. Volkswagen and ZF also benefit from harmonised business partner data management, which increases efficiency and reduces administrative costs.

These successes underline the potential of Catena-X to bring about lasting change in the automotive industry in the areas of compliance, cost control and collaboration. The aim of the new consortium is to further develop these use cases in order to promote acceptance and use by other companies.

Focus points of the new consortium:

  • Further development of use cases: The aim is to further improve the already established use cases such as quality management, PCF calculation, business partner data management and others and to put them on a broader footing.

  • Promoting adaptation: Targeted information campaigns and technical support are intended to motivate more companies to integrate the Catena-X standards into their processes.

  • Further technical development: The partners are working on improving the technical interfaces and strengthening the Tractus-X open source community.

Collaboration and adaptation are needed

Companies and organisations are called upon to play an active role in the further development of the use cases and the adaptation of the Catena-X standards. "The opportunity to be involved right from the start and help shape the future of the digital automotive industry is unique. Companies that get involved now will proactively solve the upcoming regulatory challenges and will have a competitive advantage in the future as soon as the implementation of the battery passport becomes mandatory, for example," explains Oliver Ganser, Chairman of the Board of the Catena-X Association.
