Catena-X Welcomes Nomura Research Institute as First Certified Japanese Organization in the Catena-X Ecosystem

NRI's certification is further evidence of the need for global collaboration

Catena-X is proud to announce that Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. (NRI) has become the first Japanese organization to receive Catena-X certification. On 20 September, NRI successfully implemented the Eclipse Data Connector (EDC) to actively exchange data with the global Catena-X ecosystem, marking a significant milestone for international collaboration in the automotive industry.

NRI's certification is further evidence of the need for global collaboration to address similar challenges such as increasing regulation and geopolitical challenges. Catena-X provides organizations around the world the opportunity to benefit from standardized data exchange to enable compliant sustainability reporting, resilient supply chains and unified business partner data management.

"We are honored to welcome Nomura Research Institute to the Catena-X ecosystem and look forward to fostering our collaboration on an international scale," said Anja Misselbeck, Managing Director of the Catena-X Automotive Network. "The inclusion of Japanese partners such as NRI demonstrates that our data space has global relevance and can be applied across industries. Together, we will continue to shape truly global standards and drive the digital transformation of the global automotive industry."

Strongest requirement on data sovereignty

NRI's EDC meets stringent data sovereignty requirements, ensuring that data owners retain full control of their data at all times. This represents a core value of the Catena-X ecosystem and contributes to the creation of standardized data-sharing mechanisms within the industry, which are already progressing in Japan.

With the NRI certification, Catena-X further expands its ecosystem to facilitate collaboration with key international partners. This milestone is an important step towards creating a robust, interoperable and sustainable automotive industry.
