Catena-X uses this year's Gaia-X Summit for important announcements

Gaia-X Compliance – A first Catena-X Hub in France established – An Interoperability Approach for European Data Spaces initiated: The Catena-X Automotive Network announces numerous achievements at this year’s Gaia-X Summit 2022.

Catena-X is Gaia-X compliant: An approach to ensure openness, transparency, and trust within the Data ecosystem.

It was clear from the start of the Catena-X Automotive Network, that the Catena-X data ecosystem will endorse the Gaia-X values and adopt all necessary standards. With the Gaia-X Summit 2022 the partnership between Gaia-X and Catena-X takes an important next step: The Catena-X eco system is ready to be Gaia-X compliant directly with its gotoMarket in Q1 2023.

One important building block to ensure Gaia-X compliance is a service called Gaia-X Digital Clearing House (GXDCH). This service has been approved by the Gaia-X European Association for Data and Cloud AISBL and will be available in the first quarter of 2023 for the Go Live of the Catena-X data ecosystem. The service supports the Catena-X onboarding process by verifying certain attributes of new participants as well as validating the correct application of the Gaia-X Trust-Framework (see graphic). With the use of the GXDCH, implementations Catena-X is fulfilling one important aspect of the latest Gaia-X Trust Framework 22 -10.

Setting up the first Catena-X Hub in France

Starting and utilizing the Catena-X data space requires the right set of partners and a global way forward. The Catena-X Automotive Network has initiated the foundation of global Catena-X Hubs. Each Hub will represent the Catena-X Association locally and will work towards a common goal of enabling a data-driven automotive value chain.

During the Gaia-X Summit the signature ceremony for the first Catena-X Hub took place. The creation of the first Catena-X hub in France relies on two strong French networks: the PFA [LINK: pfa-auto.fr] which represents 4000 companies of the Automotive sector spread over the territory and GALIA [Link: www.galia.com/en/] which is a long-standing actor in the context of data exchange standardization.

This is not only a first step towards a growing network of Catena-X Hubs worldwide, it also manifests the integration of a huge community of the automotive sector in Europe. The French Hub will empower French companies to work independently with Catena-X solutions, grow local communities with SME and enrich the data space with existing as well as new solutions.

Simplified Access between different European Data Spaces

Simplified Access between different Data Spaces: An Interoperability Approach for European Data Spaces

More and more data spaces appear within the automotive sector or also in adjacent business domains all over Europe. Interoperability between those data spaces is a technological challenge. Catena-X has joins forces with another Gaia-X lighthouse project – the Smart Connected Supplier Network (SCSN). The SCSN is an  open data lighthouse ecosystem, that enables data sharing in a manufacturing environment, based in the Netherlands. Today both data spaces are completely decoupled. The first goal of the cooperation: Creating a first prototype to provide users  access to both data spaces.

This partnership coincides with the recent foundation of the Data Space Support Center (DSSC). Funded by the European Commission the Data Spaces Support Centre will coordinate all relevant actions on sectoral data spaces in Europe. The outcome of the SCCN cooperation with Catena-X will provide necessary insights how to ensure interoperable access between the various data space initiatives all over Europe.
